Important Messages from PC Corner

As you may be aware from the press reports and the Council’s Facebook page there have been several instances where teenagers have been seen dropping stones and rocks from bridges onto cars travelling on the roadway below (dual carriageway).   Several cars have been damaged but fortunately nobody has been injured yet!   Should there be any injury caused or death then the people responsible WILL be charged with Culpable and Reckless Conduct, Murder or Culpable Homicide.   These offences regardless of age result in custodial sentences for those involved.

The police have deployed plain clothes officers, unmarked vehicles and covert and overt CCTV cameras in the area.   This behaviour is extremely dangerous and should stop immediately.   Anyone with any information is asked to contact the police or Crimestoppers.

Also, Several reports have been received over the weekend regarding youths targeting elderly residents and householders in the Ladywell area with snowballs, eggs, stones as well as “chap door run” type games.   As a result of an altercation with the youths one elderly resident collapsed and had to be taken to hospital.   This behaviour can be extremely dangerous particularly to the elderly and you are reminded that if you cause injury or death to another person the consequences for you will be serious.   If you have been involved in this type of anti-social behaviour please STOP and think about the consequences.   If you have any information please contact police or crimestoppers.

Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online or by phone 0800 555 111.
