Strong Showing at Handball Finals

Our S3/4 and S5/6 handball teams were at Ravenscraig Sports Facility, Motherwell, last week to compete at the National Handball Finals.  The S3/4 team came through the round robin with a 100% record, beating Belmont, Auchinleck, Our Lady's, Kelvinside and Whitburn scoring 36 and conceding only 14 in the process. Euan Innes, being assessed for his National 5 performance, performed brilliantly in goals throughout the day making some crucial saves. However, in the 1st vs 2nd place playoff, Deans were beaten 9-8 in an incredible game against Kelvinside who they had earlier beaten 7-6. The team therefore finished 2nd overall which is a great achievement! The S5/6 team were also unbeaten in the round robin and therefore qualified for the 1st v 2nd playoff. After winning against Auchinleck, Belmont, Duncanrig, Our Lady's, and managing a draw against Whitburn, the team then faced Belmont in the final. Our S5/6 team made a strong start, with Adam, Dean, Kyran and Jamie strong in attack. With Craig letting very little past him in defence, the result was never in doubt and the team won 10-4 to become the new National Champions at their age group!  Well done to all the boys involved!
