Gavin Reid, from the Actuarial Maths and Science Faculty at Heriot Watt University, delivered a very interesting careers talk to Higher and Advanced Higher Maths students.
An Actuary is a business professional who deals with the measurement and management of risk and uncertainty, compiles and analyses statistics and uses them to calculate insurance risks and premiums for large companies - and the job is regularly voted in the top 5 jobs in the world.
